Arriva PCC

Who We Are

Arriva RP Sp. z o.o. is a part of Arriva Group, which belongs to Deutsche Bahn. Arriva is a leading European operator in the market of transport services, which employs about 47,000 people and operates in 12 countries in Europe.

Operating in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Malta and Great Britain, Arriva provides more than 1.5 billion passenger journeys a year.

Arriva RP Sp. z o.o. (formerly: Arriva PCC Sp. z o.o.) is the first private passenger rail carrier in Poland which provides mass transport services. Arriva's many years' experience in public transport in the European markets resulted in winning a tender for providing passenger transport services covering lines with diesel traction in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province in 2007. This is almost 40% of passenger connections in the region.

Arriva began to operate passenger rail lines in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province in north-western Poland in 2007 on the basis of the first contract of this type in the sector of private rail transport in Poland.

On 10th December 2010 the company prolonged the term of the contract for the next ten years. The contract for rail services covers about 100 railway stations and transport of over 2 million passengers a year.

On December 15, 2013 the company successfully launched new transport tasks on electrified lines in the region. This represents over 70% of regional rail services in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie. All contract for rail services covers about 160 railway stations and transport of over 4,6 million passengers a year.

The area of our operation are non-electrified railway lines of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province and partly in the Pomorskie and Mazowieckie provinces. We transport passengers to large urban centres, such as Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Grudziądz, but also to beauty spots of our region - The Tuchola Forest (Bory Tucholskie) and the Brodnica Lake District (Pojezierze Brodnickie). In the summer we launch special trains: Arriva Express (Bydgoszcz - Władysławowo) and the Train to Stegna (Grudziądz - Stegna, in cooperation with PTMKŻ). Moreover, we provide transport services for PTMKŻ within the framework of Bayside Railway (Kolej Nadzalewowa) on the route Grudziądz - Braniewo.

QUALITY OF SERVICES PROVIDED

We are committed to ensuring the high level of comfort on our trains, both on air-conditioned PESA railbuses and modernised Danish MR trainsets with soft, comfortable seats. The rolling stock is kept clean. Our passengers can always count on a smile and help of our professionally trained train managers and conductors. Passenger research conducted by Dr. Michał Beim from the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management of the Adam Mickiewicz University have confirmed satisfaction with the high quality of our services.

EFFECTIVENESS

A private carrier manages its rolling stock much better and more effectively than state-owned carriers. Significant savings are also achieved thanks to much smaller administration. Our goal is to show how significant improvement in the standard of service can be achieved thanks to liberalization of passenger rail transport services.

INNOVATION

Arriva RP is a leader in introducing modern ticket distribution channels - almost 100% of sale on board our trains is realized using fast, mobile CASIO terminals (which also enable to sell monthly tickets). We are also successively introducing modern ticket machines and the option of buying tickets via a mobile phone using moBILET system. Additionally, we are creating the consistent system of settlement of sale using cash deposit machines for crews of conductors.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

Safety of our customers and employees is the most important. The rules of safety are embedded in our operating procedures and are the basis of our values. We are subject to periodic internal audits of safety and operating standards.

We strive to minimize the negative impact of our operation on the environment. We promote public transport and its benefits for the natural environment. The more people travel by trains, the less vehicles are on roads and, consequently, the system of public transport is more efficient, which optimizes consumption of fuels and reduces emission of combustion gases.
